4. The Hormonal Theory of Aging

The hormonal theory of aging proposes that changes in hormone levels and hormonal regulation contribute to the aging process. Various hormones, including growth hormone, insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1), and sex hormones, play important roles in growth, metabolism, and reproduction. As we age, there is a decline in hormone production and changes in hormone signaling, which can lead to age-related changes and increased susceptibility to diseases.
